Sex and Sexuality

Sex is important. It is what brought us here. Sex is not everything, however, but it is certainly an important aspect of our humanness. Sex is not what we see on television, read in magazines or experience on the Internet. Sex is what we make of it – it’s our own invention. Some refer to sex as a gift – others call it a curse. So how do you gauge if you are sexually healthy? If sex or sexuality causes you inordinate stress, anxiety, depression or other strong negative emotion – then you may have a sexual issue.
Sexual issues include low sexual desire, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, sex that has become too routine, disagreements as to who should initiate sex, discomfort regarding sexual fantasies, and dealing with sex after an affair. Healthy sexual expression requires that you feel good about yourself. If you were abused, neglected, or have a poor self-image, it can be difficult to trust even those closest to you. Understanding, accepting and living with one’s sexual orientation is also another area that can cause considerable distress for many individuals.
The good news is that most issues of sex and sexuality are manageable and quite treatable. Psychological attention that is targeted and solution-focused can provide you with relief from your sexual issues. Dr. Cristiano is well trained and experienced in all major areas of sex and sexuality. He can help you find your answers, guide you toward your goals and assist you in regaining control of your life.
